Our Philosophy

Our philosophy to business is based on surveys of clients, venture capitalists, analysts, and journalists. Time and again, three qualities continued to rise to the top: visibility, strategy, and creativity. Hence the name V+S+C Consulting.

VISIBILITY + STRATEGY + CREATIVITY

Visibility

In an increasingly competitive landscape, where traditional media outlets such as newspapers are operating at a fraction of their staff compared to five years ago, how do public relations firms compete and win the attention of overworked journalists, some of whom receive close to 300 e-mails and phone calls a day? What is the role of bloggers in a PR campaign? What role do tradeshows and conferences play in a company's success? What are the benefits of having a corporate blog? Issuing a release on the wire? How about the analyst community? Which analysts matter? In other words, how do firms generate influential visibility in a fragmented media landscape, and how can they choose from the near-endless tactics to navigate the right path? We have the answer to all of these questions, and we are defining that path.

Strategy

A strategy, according to our favorite Internet definition, is a long-term plan for success to achieve an advantage. We help develop strategies, then execute on those plans with key milestones and targets for the coming year. Many of our clients come from rich technology backgrounds, and marketing is usually the last piece of the business puzzle. This means that market strategy and its subset, PR strategy, are often undefined or alienated from the general business plan. We believe PR is the most effective marketing tool for any organization, from emerging companies to established brands. As consumers and businesses tune out traditional advertising, and the lessons learned from the advertising waste of Web 1.0 remain important, PR is one facet clearly uniting any successful company or product launch. As entrepreneurs ourselves, we understand that any strategy employed needs to meet business goals. This is why we believe your PR plan should be directly related to your business goals. This is reflected in our approach to strategy, the definition of results, and even in our compensation structure. The right story employed effectively in the right publication has led to seven-figure revenues for our clients. Different companies require different strategies and, surprisingly, simplicity and consistency is often the most successful approach.

Creativity

In today's world of open-source and offshoring ability, technology, per se, is no longer the barrier to entry that it used to be. In the sea of pending patents, most companies know that their best shot at competitive advantage is their people, their plan, capital and timing.

Over the past few years, we have witnessed that companies win because of their unique selling proposition and their ability to execute. The right PR partner can power that momentum. We believe that momentum through publicity, as well as creative messaging, tactics and story ideas, all represent the only real path to entry: CREATIVITY. From Apple to Google, companies that succeed generally understand that a winning approach to business comes from creativity. This should be reflected in every business decision from your boardroom to your PR plan. Media, analysts and target audiences respond to uniqueness, as it provides function to stories outside of the status quo. We believe that a creative PR strategy involves out-dueling the competition and telling a better, more interesting story that resonates with your audience and defines your brand.
