The North American South Asian Bar Association advocates for the South Asian community and promotes alliances between South-Asian legal professionals in the United States and Canada. In addition, the organization supports those who value diversity in the legal profession and helps law students, and those interested in the law, develop contacts with practitioners. NASABA provides information to members on careers and the legal market and provides an avenue for professionals and community leaders to take an interest in matters of concern to the South-Asian community. By A Correspondent -- Atlanta, GA: The North American South Asian Bar Association (NASABA), representing the interests of over several thousand South Asian attorneys, hosted close to 400 attendees from 22 different states in the US, as well as attendees from Canada and India, who gathered at its third annual convention. They celebrated the community's accomplishments, learned from each other and committed to doing more for the world in which they live and work. IndusBar of Georgia hosted the convention at the InterContinental Hotel herein Atlanta, Georgia, on June 16 and 17, with support by from the CompuCredit Corporation.

South Asian lawyers group draws over 400 to annual event

Atlanta ? over 400 people attended the North American South Asian Bar Association recent annual convention held in Atlanta last month. Focusing on the theme, ?Networking to Influence, Influencing the Network," the convention featured about 70 panelists and speakers discussing a number of topics relevant to the South Asian legal community, including diversity, business development, the USA Patriot Act, racial profiling and pro bono work.
