According to envIO Networks, iPhone App Chorus, Background Check & Let's Golf Top List of Free Apps

Wireless Developer Network - March 3, 2010

Andover, MA - March 3, 2010 - envIO networks, a leading social networking software development company, today announces new user data based on activity from its popular Chorus iPhone Application. The Chrous January report focuses on the top ten most recommended apps within the Chorus community, as well as the top ten free and paid apps based on download attempts.

Chrous makes it easy to manage the vast amount of iPhone apps to hit the market, and allows users to connect with friends to discover valued apps regardless of the smart phone their friends use. Chorus is currently available on iPhone and iPod touch, and has recently launched internationally in 90 additional countries around the world.

Since it’s launch in 2009, more than a hundred thousand users have used Chorus to keep track of what apps their friends are recommending and downloading. The community is based on shared interests and aiding the app discovery process by making it easy for users to connect with friends, see their activities, and provide recommendations.

Chorus users are active and engaged, with over a third of the daily users generating activity – rating, reviewing and commenting on friends’ activities. Chorus users are also incredibly social, with the average user inviting 78 friends to try out the app.

Based on the latest data, the most popular free and paid apps for January were Background Check and Let’s Golf, which took over for IMDb and DropZap, respectively. Another interesting trend witnessed in this report is that 28 of the 30 apps that made it to the list made their debut, which again emphasizes the popularity of new apps among discerning Chorus users.

The following top ten lists for January 2010 were based on tens of thousands of user interactions and download attempts.

“We’ve received great feedback from publishers and developers who are looking for helpful tools to help them track the hottest apps that users are downloading,” said Vladimir Edelman, VP of Marketing and Business Development of envIO networks, the company behind Chorus. ”Users of the app find it very helpful as well and we’ve seen a big increase in user activity. The average user now recommends the app to nearly 80 of their friends and downloads an average of three apps a month, which shows the tremendous power of growth through viral and social recommendations.”

envIO is developing Chorus for other leading smart phone platforms and is planning to announce rollouts in several new languages in the coming months.
