The Blue Man Group's show is coming to San Antonio's AT&T Center on Oct. 11.
But here' s the high-tech angle. The Blue Man Group is going to deliver content using Counts Media's mobkastr technology directly to audience members' phones. While most concerts and shows ban cell phones, the Blue Man Group is embracing them and making them part of the show. -
Blue Man Group puts cell phones in the spotlight
infoSync World, September 28, 2006
Usually you can barely find your seat in the theater before an announcement demands you to turn off your cell phone, but you won't hear that command at Blue Man Group's "How to be a Megastar Tour 2.0." The show will feature the new "mobkastr" service that lets the inquisitive blue men send content to the audience via text message before, during, and after the show. Will they ask you to leap onto the stage and jump into a vat of Jello? We wouldn't doubt it. (Source: Counts Media)

MOG, September 23, 2006
Ran across an event by Yellow Arrow called Capitol of Punk in Washington D.C. Capitol of Punk is a walking tour of hardcore history in our nations capitol. I'm preaching to the choir here but as you know D.C. is a hive of political bureaucracy yet the birthplace of great punk bands such as Bad Brains and of course Minor Threat which spawned Ian Mackaye's Fugazi and The Evens. The D.C. hardcore sound ushered in a lyrical and musical intensity to what punk rock is today and I if I was going to be in D.C. I would check it out.

Idea Bar #5: Movie Location Social Media Tours
Digital Influence Mapping project, September 23, 2006
I shared about the Capitol of Punk tour. Now Random Culture reports on the interactive map from the NYC Mayor's Office of Film and Television celebrating 40 years of movie location shooting in NYC. The map is pretty cool. In mashup-style, you can click on a push pin and get a movie title, links to IMDB and possibly a thumbnail. It's also nowhere near any of the tourism resources for the city so it remains an insider's resource.

The Morning News, September 22, 2006
Last time I visited Washington, D.C., I had some Indian food, drank too much Rolling Rock, and hit the Holocaust Museum with an eye-throbbing hangover. It was a rough day. Maybe next time I'll take a walking tour of the city's hardcore scene, as documented in the 10 featurettes gathered on ?Capitol of Punk." Funny I didn't notice this on their official tourism site.
