3jam: Revenue Up 74% Month over Month

Media Bistro - October 31, 2008

Group messaging community 3jam is a rarity among mobile start-ups: it's generating revenue - and has been for a while now.

The company's SuperText service lets users text with an individual or an entire group and include pictures and other attachments. Also, unlike Twitter, 3jam still supports international text messaging.

It's obviously doing something right. 3jam has reported a 74% month-over-month increase in revenue since February. The start-up's SMS community has some 3.2 million members, who send an average 60 messages per month each.

3jam has also scored a couple big partnerships for its SuperText service. T-Mobile and TeliaSonera are both offering the service directly to their customers. T-Mobile has already launched SuperText on all of its BlackBerry handsets in the US. Scandinavian operator TeliaSonera plans to offer 3jam as part of its Innovation World online meeting space.
